The Friends of the Effingham Library was established in 2002 by a small group of residents interested in supporting the growth and development of the library. We sponsor fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for the library’s needs which are not covered under the town budget.
The Friends meet on the second Thursday of the month at 5:30pm. New members are always welcome!
Over the years, the Friends have used their efforts and funds raised to support or provide the following for the library:
- Support for Summer Reading Programs
- Scholarships for Lego Camp
- Donations to the Historic Town Hall/Library Restoration Project
- Workshops for patrons and for staff
- Volunteer support for library events and activities
- New circulation desk
- Library museum passes
- Early library needs, including the first circulation desk, library shelving, photocopier, air conditioner, digital camera, etc.
- Monthly Writer’s Night (from 2005 to 2019)
- And much more!

The Friends of the Effingham Library meet on the second Thursday of the month at the Library at 5:30pm. Meeting links via ZOOM will continue to be offered upon request for those unable to attend in person. New members are always welcome! We also strive to collaborate with other Effingham organizations for town-wide event participation.
