Every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort, and independence. At the Effingham Public Library, we strive to ensure that our services are accessible to people with disabilities, and we have invested significant resources to ensure that the library is welcoming and comfortable for all patrons. We have also worked alongside our website developer to ensure that our website is made easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities.
Accessibility at the Library
The Effingham Public Library offers:
- Wheelchair accessible restrooms, entrances, parking, and computer workstations
- Reading tablets with large print capability
- A microphone & speakers for presentations
- Large print books
We can also assist you in locating a wider variety of large print books through the interlibrary loan system, and we can help you access downloadable audiobooks using OverDrive and Libby! The EPL is pleased to announce that we are in the process of pursuing grants that will help us further improve accessibility at the library.
We’re here to help.
If you or someone you love needs help with access to the library and our services, please reach out to us so we can help. You may call (603) 539-1537 or email [email protected].
Accessibility on the Website
Our website, effingham.lib.nh.us employs the UserWay Website Accessibility Widget. The UserWay widget integrates software into our website that offers our users a variety of accommodation options, improving their user experience and enhancing our overall compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).
Enabling the Accessibility Menu
The Accessibility Menu for our website can be enabled by clicking the accessibility menu button that appears in the lower left corner of our website. The button is represented by a circle icon with a person in the center like the one pictured here. After triggering the button, simply wait a moment for the accessibility menu to load in its entirety.
Once open, you will have a variety of options including: large text, highlighted links, increased contrast, a large cursor, a reading mask for long pages, and even a dyslexia-friendly font.

Despite our efforts to make all pages and content on this website fully accessible, some content may not have yet been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. In some cases, this may be a result of not having found or identified the most appropriate technological solution.
